Cabernet from Around the World Wine Dinner

Join us on Tuesday, September 25, from 5:30-7:30pm for a four-course Wine Dinner featuring Cabernet from around the world. Cabernet is one of the most popular varietals among American wine drinkers, but ironically, its origins were actually accidental. In the seventeenth century in southwestern France, an unforeseen breeding occurred between a red Cabernet Franc grape plant and a white Sauvignon Blanc grape plant and thus was born Cabernet Sauvignon!

Cabernet Sauvignon is known for its thick, durable skin, and the vine’s resistance to the elements. After the birth of the grape, the Cabernet Sauvignon varietal began to be adopted in parts of France by winemakers searching for more durable plants that were relatively easy to grow, and the grape found its champion in the region of Bordeaux.

Clarke Schatz, representing Southern Wine Company, and Doug Fairman of Deutsch Imports, will pour Cabernet Sauvignon wines from France, Australia, Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles and Alexander Valley. They are as follows:

  • Josh Cellars, Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles 2014

  • Peter Lehmann, Portrait Cabernet Sauvignon, Barossa, Australia 2014

  • Bellacosa Cabernet Sauvignon, North Coast 2014

  • Joseph Carr, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma County 2015

  • Château de Cruzeau Rouge, Pessac-Léognan 2014

  • Girard Artistry, Napa Valley 2014

Ambrosia's inimitable kitchen staff, headed by Rory Valentino and Ryan Blaze, will prepare a four-course dinner, each course paired with the wine. The cost is $65 per person, plus gratuity.  Buy 12 bottles or more at the event and receive a 10% discount. Space is limited to 28 people, so make your prepaid reservations today by calling Ambrosia at 541-342-4141.
